INVERNESS FLAG DAY: A Flag Day ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday at City Hall Park. Entertainment includes the Inverness pipe and drums, color guards, guest speakers, the story of the flags and a medley of patriotic songs.
LOVE STORIES: Four love stories intertwine to form Lovers and Other Strangers, presented weekends June 15- 24 at the Citrus County Art League, 2644 N Annapolis Ave., Hernando. The four stories are about the romance and marriage plans of a young couple, followed by a glimpse of a married couple next door, then capped off by an examination of an embittered older couple trying to save their son's marriage. Tickets are $8 in advance and $9 at the door. Art league box office is open from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Call 746-7606.
FASHION SHOW: A fashion show and fundraiser for Playhouse 19 will begin at 11:30 a.m. July 14 at the theater, 865 U.S. 19 S, Crystal River. The show includes fashions modeled by local celebrities, a buffet lunch and entertaining skits. Funds go to the remodeling at the two recently-purchased buildings. Tickets are $35. SAY UNCLE: The Inverness Olde Town Association will have the Uncle Sam Jam street party on July 7. The Uncle Sam Jam will feature a decorated bicycle parade and other children's activities such as two "Moon Walk" booths, carriage rides, patriotic face and nail painting, games, food vendors, a patriotic tribute led by Mayor Joyce Rogers and a street dance to finish the night.
FIREWORKS: Crystal River will have a fireworks show on July 4. The fireworks will be launched from Kings Bay shortly after dusk, and spectators can view from any neighboring street or parking lot. Before the festival, a family fun day with volleyball, swimming and other activities takes place at Hunter Springs Park.
IT'S A BLAST: A boat parade and fireworks show is scheduled for June 30 at Homosassa Riverside Resort, 5297 S Cherokee Way, Homosassa. Other activities include family events happening throughout the day at local business on the Homosassa River. Call 628-2474.
CHILDREN'S ANNIE: The story of Little Orphan Annie, condensed for children and re-named Annie Jr., will be presented at 7:30 p.m. July 12 and 13; 2:15 and 7:30 p.m. July 14 and 2:15 p.m. July 15 at Ocala Civic Theater, 4337 E Silver Springs Blvd. The play retains the memorable songs such as Tomorrow, Hard Knock Life and You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile. PLAYHOUSE 19 PLAY: Tickets for the upcoming production Man of La Mancha are available at Playhouse 19, 865 U.S. 19 S, Crystal River. Tickets cost $12.
