What qualities should city's new police chief possess?

By Times staff

published June 10, 2001

With a nationwide search under way for St. Petersburg's 12th chief of police, the Times is interested in hearing what qualities you want in a new leader.

Mayor Rick Baker has said the new chief must have the ability and desire to work with and understand a diverse urban community and inspire confidence and a sense of mission in the St. Petersburg Police Department.

What do you think? Should the person who succeeds Chief Goliath Davis III come from within the department or outside? And what projects do you want the new chief to tackle first?
