Brawl erupts over money; one man stabbed, one beatenBy Times staff writer
© St. Petersburg Times, INDIAN ROCKS BEACH -- One man was stabbed in the shoulder and another beaten in his own front yard Saturday in a fight over money, authorities said. The trouble began when Andrew H. Parker, 40, who owed money to Mark Prescott, 38, argued with him over the phone early Saturday morning, deputies said. Prescott, of 1470 Highbluff Drive in Largo, and his friend Matthew R. Gunn, 36, of 1653 Trotter Road in Largo, took a taxi to Parker's home about 6 a.m. Saturday, authorities said. They found Parker brandishing a knife outside his home at 717 E Gulf Blvd., No. 3, in Indian Rocks Beach. Parker told sheriff's deputies that after the two men got out of the car, Prescott threatened Parker, and Parker stabbed Prescott in the left shoulder. The two men took the knife away from Parker, and Gunn and Prescott began beating him up, deputies said. After deputies arrived, Prescott was taken to Bayfront Medical Center, where he was treated for minor injuries. Parker suffered minor cuts from the beating. He was charged with aggravated battery. The Sheriff's Office has referred its case to the State Attorney's Office to consider charging Prescott and Gunn with battery. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • Tampa Bay Times
