    Man's body found in swimming pool

    An 18-year-old Tampa man was found in a swimming pool Friday night, police said.

    John W. Hall of 3910 W State St. went swimming at the Legend Oaks Apartments on N Habana Avenue, and was not moving when friends removed him from the pool. Fire and rescue crews arrived about 10:30 p.m. and took him to St. Joseph's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

    The cause of death was unknown Saturday.

    Woman raped inside her mobile home

    TAMPA -- A 41-year-old Tampa woman was raped in her mobile home on West Shore Boulevard in Tampa early Saturday by a man whom she had sometimes seen loitering in the neighborhood, police said.

    The woman woke up at 1 a.m. to find the man in her home and holding a knife to her neck. He sexually assaulted her and left about 6 a.m., police said.

    Officers found the man in an abandoned home in the same park in the 5600 block of S West Shore Boulevard. James Phillip Jackson, whose 48th birthday is today, was arrested and charged with armed burglary, armed sexual battery and false imprisonment.

    He broke a window to enter while she was sleeping.

    He was being held at Orient Road Jail.

    Dive team searches pond for missing man

    Members of the dive team from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office were called out Saturday night to search a pond for a missing man.

    Spokesman Rod Reder said deputies responded about 7:15 p.m. to a call about a drowning at 1505 Sinclair Hills Road, which is north of Tampa near the intersection of Florida and Bearss avenues. Information about the man's identity was not available late Saturday.
