Perkins Elementary receives art award
Perkins Elementary School is a recipient of an Arts Achieve! award from Arts for a Complete Education/Florida Alliance for Arts Education. The school was singled out for integrating art throughout its academic curriculum and for recognizing art as a motivational learning tool.
The magnet school for arts and international studies will be honored next month at the ACE/FAAE Summer Leadership Conference in Orlando and has been recommended as a Florida nominee for the Kennedy Center Alliance for Arts Education Network's National Schools of Distinction awards.
The Boca Ciega High School Alumni Association is sponsoring the Boca Ciega Pirate Golf Tournament June 23 at Mangrove Bay Golf Course, 875 62nd Ave. NE in St. Petersburg.
Registration begins at 7 a.m. The four-player scramble begins at 8 a.m. Prizes will be awarded for the top five finishers, for the longest drive and closest to the pin.
The fee is $70 per person and includes a cart, lunch and green fees. Hole sponsorships are $100 and corporate sponsorships are $300. Proceeds will benefit programs at Boca Ciega High School.
