CLEARWATER -- The fireworks ban for Pinellas County will stay in effect for another seven days, county commissioners decided Tuesday. The ban, passed June 6 in response to the drought, prohibits the sale, use and display of fireworks, sparklers and other novelties except for municipal fireworks shows over water. The executive order, which must be renewed each week, also bans all outdoor burning, except for cooking on barbecue grills.
