SOFTBALL: The Tampa Bay Nighthawks are seeking players who can challenge for a starting position. Players who will turn 50 during 2001 are eligible to play.

SUMMER CAMPS: The Hillsborough County Parks and Recreation Department will offer a series of camps this summer at Leto High.

The week-long camps will feature a different sport each week, and each camp has a limited registration.

The camps will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day and are open to kids ages 9-17 except volleyball, which is open for kids 12-17. Each camper must bring a lunch.

The $5 cost per camp will be donated to the scholarship foundation of the Friends of the County Parks. Advanced registration is required. For more information or registration forms, call Tina at 554-5002, Bill at 554-5004 or Paul at 903-2257.

The camp schedule is: June 18 -- basketball; June 25 -- baseball; July 9 -- volleyball; July 16 -- soccer and July 23 -- tennis.

BASKETBALL: Enrollment is being accepted for the Bloomingdale Bulls Basketball Camp. The camp is divided into two sessions for different age groups: June 25-29 for boys and girls ages 8-11 and July 9-13 for boys ages 12-17.

The camp will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Bloomingdale High School gym. Fee is $80. For details, call coach Jack Sutter at 744-8018, Ext. 525.

GOLF: The 2001 Summer Golf Series will benefit patient services programs.

Tournaments will be a two-person scramble format at Countryway Golf Club, 11111 Waters Ave., Tampa. Entry fee includes lunch, drinks, prizes and awards. Tournaments are scheduled for June 14, July 12, Aug. 9 and Sept. 13.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Cost is $40 per person per tournament or $160 (prepaid) for all five tournaments. Hole sponsorships are available for $125 for the series.
