Journey has sold more than 50-million albums since it began making melodic arena rock in the 1970s. Back then, Steve Perry's pretty falsetto stood out in a glut of rock singers who merely went from whisper to scream and back again. That boy could sing.

Perry has since split because of poor health, but this new guy, Steve Augeri, sounds, well, exactly like Steve Perry on the band's 18th album, Arrival.

Spooky? Coincidental? Something out of The Twilight Zone? Well, that's neither here nor there. The point is, you'll hear a spot-on Don't Stop Believin', Lovin,' Touchin,' Squeezin' and other song titles with gerunds using apostrophes.

Guitarist Neal Schon is still in the fold. Recall that, in the early 1970s, Schon was the 15-year-old prodigy asked to join Santana and Derek & the Dominoes during the same 24-hour period.

Opening the show is Peter Frampton -- we hear he's pretty good on guitar, too -- and John Waite, the former member of the Babys and Bad English but still more known for that mid '80s weeper, Missing You.

Journey performs with Peter Frampton and John Waite at 7 p.m. at the USF Sun Dome, 4202 E Fowler Ave., Tampa. $29.75-$45. (813) 974-3002.
