BROOKSVILLE -- A child started a fire Wednesday that caused serious damage to a house. No one was injured, however.
At about 8 a.m., firefighters were called about a blaze at 13260 Taylor St., west of Brooksville. By the time it was out, the fire had caused $90,000 in damages to the single-story home. The home was not destroyed and officials say it can be rebuilt.
The residents were able to evacuate before they were hurt.
The fire marshal later determined a child had accidentally started the fire on a bedroom mattress, said Danny Roberts, chief of operations for Hernando County Fire Rescue.
