Game for anything
Maybe, just maybe, we'll finally see a movie as entertaining as the video game it's based upon. Tomb Raider, starring Oscar winner Angelina Jolie, above, as fearless archaeologist Lara Croft, looks capable of erasing bad memories of Super Mario Bros. and Street Fighter. Lara Croft is the pin-up queen of cybergeeks everywhere, with an impossibly thin waist blooming into a bountiful bustline. She's also a butt-kicking warrior, always ready for action at the jostle of a joystick. The combination gives director Simon West (Con Air, The General's Daughter) plenty of opportunity to create Raiders of the Lost Babe. Jolie's father, Jon Voight, appears briefly as Lara's worried father, Lord Croft.
Tomb Raider screened too late for Weekend, but a complete review will be published in Friday's Floridian.
