The mall's Bay Street is shaping up as an outdoor entertainment center along the lines of BayWalk, Centro Ybor or Channelside. Along its two oak-lined streets will be small shops and eight or nine restaurants that will stay open until late at night.

The mall details another 15 tenants as it reveals the look of the 1.26-million-square-foot Taubman Centers facility.

TAMPA -- Taubman Centers Inc. has lined up 15 more tenants for its new International Plaza, including a Hugo Boss store.

The additions, confirmed Thursday during the first media tour of the new 1.26-million-square-foot mall, brings the count of specialty stores to well over half the estimated 200 shops and restaurants. The mall will be anchored by Dillard's and by the first stores in the Tampa Bay market for Lord & Taylor, Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom.

The department stores account for more than half the space, but Taubman is still searching for rent-paying tenants for the 510,000 square feet of leaseable space for specialty stores and restaurants.

"We'll be opening with 70 percent of the (specialty store and restaurant) space occupied and 80 percent of it leased," said Bruce Heckman, project manager for the Bloomfield, Mich., developer, which had announced the first batch of 100 stores and restaurants in March.

The mall, rising at West Shore and Boy Scout boulevards in Tampa, is on budget and on time for its scheduled opening Sept. 14, Heckman said.

The mall is an unusual hybrid design, with an outdoor village of restaurants and small shops built atop part of the parking garage. That leads into the more traditional air-conditioned, enclosed mall with a marble floor.

Because the mall is two levels, there are no long hikes. Three courtyard gathering places made the walks between escalators no more than about 275 feet.

In addition to the Hugo Boss store, upscale designer stores include the previously announced Tiffany & Co., Christian Dior, BCBG/MaxMara, Nicole Miller, Charles Jourdan Paris, Jessica McClintock, Louis Vuitton, Swarovski and Caswell-Massey.

Other late additions include Surrey's, a Miami apparel chain that sells many ready-to-wear designer labels; Pasadena, Calif.-based MaxStudio.com, which specializes in Italian-made fashion apparel; and Sisley, an upscale private-label apparel store based in Charleston, S.C. The mall also will have a gallery selling investment-level art called Privee de Peinture et de Sculpture.

Other new lease signings are more familiar and mainstream: Wilson's Leather, Vitamin World, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and Limited Too. Added to Bay Street, the outdoor restaurant district, is Toojay's Goumet Deli and Ville du Pain, a bread bakery.
