THE PITCHERS

Albie Lopez

Lopez (2-8, 5.60) has lost his past seven decisions, but is 2-0 against Florida during his career. Lopez's losing streak is the longest in the American League, longest of his career and one shy of the franchise record (8).

Brad Penny

Penny (5-1, 4.04) won in his last appearance, allowing one run on five hits while striking out five in 5 2/3 innings against Toronto on June 10. He left that game in the sixth inning with a blister on his right index finger.

YOU DON'T SAY

Want to know why it makes sense for the Rays to play in a dome? As was the case on Friday at Pro Player Stadium, the game-time temperature tonight will be around 90 degrees.

That type of heat particularly can affect a pitcher.

"If your legs get tired that elevates the ball," said Albie Lopez, tonight's starter. "When you elevate the ball, that leads to runs. The other factor is cramping. You're going to be sweating so much that we've been talking about hydrating ourself all week."
