Fiesta is all Latin, all day

Fiesta is all Latin, all day

In just a year, La Fiesta de San Juan has grown to become one of the area's largest Latin festivals.

The music and cultural event started last year and drew thousands to Tampa for a daylong celebration with non-stop music, food, amusement rides and displays celebrating the bay area's Latin heritage.

The event is named for the patron saint of Puerto Rico, San Juan Baptista (St. John the Baptist). It begins at 11 a.m. Sunday and continues until 9 p.m., with music by Ismael Miranda, Chamaco Rivera, Cano Estremera, Hector Tricoche, Luisito Carrion, Los Selectos, Jorge Serrano, kalkomania, De Pura Cepa and E-Love.

Those who enter before 1 p.m. pay $5. Admission for those 10 and older after 1 is $8. Children are admitted free. The festival is at the Police Athletic League Field, W Diana Street and N Rome Avenue (off Sligh Avenue), Tampa. No coolers allowed. (813) 841-3448.
