LACOOCHEE -- A Dade City man was arrested Tuesday after crashing his car head-on into another vehicle and running away from the accident, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

J.W. Parker, 44, of 20416 Jackson Court, was charged with drunken driving, DUI with property damage, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage and driving on a suspended license.

According to reports, Parker's car crossed the center line of County Road 575 about 8 a.m. and crashed into a pickup driven by Jose Olascuago. Parker got out of his 1986 Mercury and ran into the woods, where FHP troopers apprehended him after a brief chase.

Olascuago was not seriously injured. Parker failed field sobriety tests. Parker was booked into the county jail in Land O'Lakes on $10,000 bail.
