A triple bill of music, modeling and acting takes place today as the students of Citrus Performing Arts and Learning Center in Inverness conclude their two-week arts camp with a show.

The show will include theatrical modeling, a Christmas-in-June play and a puppet show, said Barbara Balser, director of the center.

"We've been having a two-week summer program here, and this is the production to celebrate the end," Balser said.

The performance begins at 7 p.m. today with a welcome message presented as part of a puppet show.

Next up is the play, Christmas in the Land of Oz, a summertime adaptation of the classic.

"It's got all the characters people remember -- Dorothy, the Tin Man and the Scarecrow," said Beth Evans, the center's theater director.

Evans also made the costumes for the young actors.

"In this play, Dorothy returns to Oz to find some Christmas spirit," Evans said.

After Dorothy completes her quest for Christmas spirit, a theatrical modeling show will close out the show.

Balser explained that theatrical modeling is different than runway modeling.

"It's a combination of dance, modeling and acting," she said. "It involves the movement of dance and the body language of acting and modeling."

During the theatrical modeling show, groups of students will take to the stage to act out expressions contained in a song.

"It's a dramatization of the song," Balser said. "Much like the actors do in today's music videos."

Citrus Performing Arts and Learning Center is at 2301 E Carter St., Inverness, off State Road 44 W. Tonight's performance is free. Call 344-4422.
