Around the CountyBy Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published June 24, 2000 The Clearwater Bullets 12-and-under softball team won the NSA National Qualifier tournament in Sarasota recently by defeating Pembroke Pines 8-0. The Bullets won six games by a combined score of 54-3. Kelly Betts pitched a no-hitter for the Bullets while Samantha Becker and Dani Hofer combined for a perfect game. The Clearwater for Youth 14-and-under Bullets recently won the the Amateur Softball Association's ninth Annual Capital City Invitational tournament in Tallahassee. The win assures the Bullets a berth in the ASA World Series to be held in Panama City in August. Pitchers Lindsay (Mick) Graham, Bree Spence, Natalie Bale and Jennifer Jacobs led the team to a 6-0 record. Offensive contributions by Alecia Fudge, Sara Stack, Nikki Delandy and Carly Griffin helped the team outscore opponents 21-4. The Bullets also won the Father's Day Tournament in St. Petersburg. They won five of their six games, three by shutout.
