TAMPA -- A 38-year-old Tampa man was shot in the chest late Friday after getting into an argument over his former girlfriend, police said.

Stephen B. Johnson was leaving the home of his ex-girlfriend at 1712 E Sitka St. in Sulphur Springs when her current boyfriend drove up and the men start arguing, police said. The suspect pulled out a gun and shot Johnson about 11:50 p.m., police said.

Johnson, of 8319 N 13th St., was flown to Tampa General Hospital, where he was recuperating Saturday.

The suspect fled. No arrests had been made Saturday.
