They be slammin'

With a victory at the LPGA Championship today, Karrie Webb, 26, winner of the 1999 du Maurier Classic, the 2000 U.S. Women's Open and the 2000 Nabisco Championship, would join four LPGA Tour Hall of Famers who have accomplished the career Grand Slam, winning each of the designated majors during their playing career:

Louise Suggs was the first, completing hers in 1957. The 11-time major championship winner won the LPGA Championship in '57, the U.S. Women's Open in '49 and '52, the Titleholders Championship in 1946 as an amateur and again in '54, '56 and '59, and the Western Open in '46-47, '49 and '53.

Mickey Wright was the youngest at 27 when she completed hers in 1962. The winner of 13 majors was a four-time winner of the LPGA Championship ('58, '60-61, '63), a four-time winner of the U.S. Women's Open ('58-59, '61, '64), a two-time Titleholders Championship winner ('61-62) and a three-time Western Open winner ('62-63, '66).

Pat Bradley completed hers in '86, winning the du Maurier Classic in '80 and '85-86, the U.S. Women's Open in '81, Nabisco Dinah Shore in '86 and the LPGA Championship in '86.

Juli Inkster won the '84 du Maurier and Dinah Shore as a rookie, the Dinah Shore again in '89, then completed the Slam in '99 with victories at the U.S. Women's Open and LPGA Championship. She repeated as LPGA champion in 2000 for her sixth major.
