CROSS COUNTRY: Bob Braman, the track and cross country coach at Florida State, will hold a free cross country clinic for middle school, high school and college runners from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Palm Harbor University.
Topics covered will include summer training, stretching, a video review of running form and setting goals. There also will be an optional group run.

BASEBALL: East Lake's Matt Lichtenberg has signed to play with Eckerd. Lichtenberg (6 feet 2, 210 pounds), an outfielder and pitcher, earned three letters in baseball and football for the Eagles.

BASKETBALL: Two teams from Childs Park qualified for the Youth Basketball Organization of America national tournament July 21-28 in Polk County.
At the state tournament June 8-10 in Polk County, the 12-under Childs Park Eagles won their round robin group and placed fourth overall out of 16 teams. They earned the final berth for the national tournament. The 9-under Childs Park Eagles placed second to also advance to the national tournament.
SOCCER: MLS Camps, the official camp of Major League Soccer, will have two five-day camps in Pinellas County.
The first is from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. July 9-13 at the Lakewood Soccer Complex. It costs $92 for participants ages 5 to 10, $135 for players 11 and older. For information, call Sue Tompkin at (727) 864-2709.
The second camp is from 6 to 9 p.m. July 30-Aug. 3 at St. Petersburg Junior College, Clearwater campus. It costs $105 per participant ages 6 to 18. For information, call Allan Beaver at (727) 536-9443.
At both camps, participants will receive an individual player evaluation, Lego gift, soccer ball, T-shirt and companion ticket to an MLS game. Parents and coaches can attend a free coaching clinic during the week.
TAE KWON DO: The Tampa Bay Sports Commission is looking for volunteers to work during the tae kwon do U.S. Junior Olympic championships July 2-7 at the Tampa Convention Center. The event will involve 5,000 of the top tae kwon do athletes ages 6 to 17 from throughout the country.
Volunteer duties range from athlete registration and timekeeping to athlete escorts and hosts. Volunteers will be asked to work five-hour shifts and will receive a T-shirt, meals for morning and evening shifts and parking. For information, call (813) 350-6557.
