TARPON SPRINGS -- Tarpon Springs City Commissioner David Archie has announced he will resign his seat effective Nov. 20 to run for the Pinellas County School Board.

The four remaining commissioners each will nominate a replacement and the board will vote on those nominees in October or November, Mayor Frank DiDonato said. The appointed commissioner will serve until April 2001, when Archie's term would have expired.

Archie, 47, is seeking the District 3 School Board seat, which is being vacated by Susan Latvala, who is running for the Pinellas County Commission. District 3 includes Dunedin, Tarpon Springs and the parts of Palm Harbor and Clearwater west of U.S. 19.
