In each of his past two tournaments, Tiger Woods flirted with missing the 36-hole cut before qualifying for the final two rounds. He has made the cut in 71 consecutive PGA Tour events -- dating to the 1998 Buick Invitational -- and is just one behind Dow Finsterwald for fourth place. Here are the longest cut streaks in PGA Tour history:

1. Byron Nelson, 113 (1940s).

2. Jack Nicklaus, 105 (from Sahara Open, Nov. 1970, through World Series of Golf, Sept. 1976).

3. Hale Irwin, 86 (from Tucson Open, Feb. 1975, through 1978 season).

4. Dow Finsterwald, 72 (from Carling Golf Classic, Sept. 1955, through Houston Invitational, Feb. 1958).

5. Tiger Woods*, 71 (from Buick Invitational, Feb. 1998, through Buick Classic, June 2001).

6. Tom Kite, 59, (from Western Open, July 1980, through Westchester Classic, June 1982).

6. Vijay Singh, 59, (from World Series of Golf, Aug. 1995, through the Players Championship, March 1998).

* Woods gets an asterisk because the PGA Tour considers his 1998 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am a missed cut. That year, the tournament was shortened to 54 holes due to inclement weather, with the final round scheduled for August, a day after the conclusion of the PGA Championship. Woods elected not to return for the final round, so it went in the record books as a withdrawal/missed cut. If Woods had completed the Pebble Beach tournament, his streak would be at 75. Woods' only other missed cut as a professional occurred at the 1997 Canadian Open.
