    Meet Gov. Bush's picks for UF, FSU

    New Board of Trustees at the University of Florida

    Carlos Alfonso, 46. He is a UF graduate, a Tampa resident and the president and CEO of Alfonso Architects Inc. He is a Republican.

    Louise Courtelis, 69. She is a University of Miami graduate, a resident of Micanopy and the widow of Alec Courtelis, a top GOP fundraiser. She is a Republican.

    Marshall Criser Jr., 62. He is a UF graduate and was president of the university from 1984 to 1989. He is a Republican.

    John Dasburg. He is a UF graduate and CEO of the Burger King Corp. He lives in Key Biscayne.

    Roland Daniels, 54. He is a graduate of Howard University in Washington, D.C., and is president and general manager of Saturn of Gainesville. He is a Democrat.

    Manny Fernandez, 55. He is a UF graduate, a resident of Sanibel and chairman of the Gartner Group, an information technology company. He is a Republican.

    Mac McGriff, 57. He is a UF graduate and former CEO of the University Medical Center in Jacksonville. He is a Republican.

    Joelen Merkel, 50, is a UF graduate and senior vice president of Chris-Craft Industries Inc. She is a Republican.

    Dianna Morgan, 49, is a graduate of Rollins College and a senior vice president with Walt Disney World. She is a Republican.

    Cynthia O'Connell, 44, is a graduate of Florida State University and senior managing director of BSMG Worldwide. She is the widow of former UF President Stephen C. O'Connell. She is a Republican.

    Albert Thweatt is a graduate of the University of Virginia and founder and CEO of Alrod Enterprises, which specializes in security services. He lives in Prince George, Va.

    Al Warrington IV is a UF graduate and self-employed investor. He has given millions of dollars to the university. He lives in Houston.

    Marc Adler, 23, is the UF student body president, which gives him an automatic seat on the board. He lives in Aventura and is a Republican.

    New Board of Trustees at Florida State University

    Erich Bloch is a graduate of the University of Buffalo. He is president of the Washington Advisory Group and consults on corporate R&D management and strategic planning. He lives in Washington, D.C.

    Emily Duda, 59, is a member of the FSU Booster Club board. She lives in Oviedo, and is a Republican.

    David Ford is an FSU graduate and managing director of Goldman Sachs & Company's global asset management division.

    Dr. Jessie Furlow, 52, is a graduate of the University of Rochester Medical School. She was vice chair of the Florida Commission on Minority Health. She lives in Quincy and is a Democrat.

    Manny Garcia, 57, graduated from Cornell University and is chief executive of Atlantic Coast Management Inc. He lives in Winter Springs and is a Republican.

    Lee Hinkle, 51, is an FSU graduate and a self-employed governmental consultant. She lives in Tallahassee and is a Republican.

    Harold Knowles, 53, is an FSU graduate and managing shareholder in Knowles, Marks and Randolph, an African-American law firm. He lives in Tallahassee and is a Democrat.

    Stanley Marshall, 78, is a former president of FSU. He is the founding chairman of the James Madison Institute, a Tallahassee think tank that promotes limited government and personal responsibility. He is a Republican.

    E. Ann McGee, 51, is an FSU graduate and president of Seminole Community College. She lives in Winter Springs and is a Republican.

    Alan C. Sundberg, 58, is an FSU graduate and former chief justice on the Florida Supreme Court. He lives in Tallahassee and is a Democrat.

    John Thrasher, 57, is an FSU graduate and former speaker of the Florida House of Representatives. He lives in Orange Park and is a Republican.

    Stephen Uhlfelder, 55, is a University of Florida graduate and partner in the Holland & Knight law firm. He is a member of the state Board of Regents and is a Democrat.

    Delmar W. Johnson III, 22, is the student body president at FSU, which gives him an automatic seat on the board. He is from Englewood and is a Republican.
