Hudson man charged in altercation
HUDSON -- Pasco sheriff's deputies accused one man of burglary battery following an altercation on Monday night.
Carl Dahn, whose address was not specified, told deputies that three men pulled him out of his car and jumped him. According to a sheriff's report, Jason M. Runyon, 18, of 17120 Ridgeline Trail, punched Dahn in the face while Dahn was sitting in his car. Some witnesses said Runyon struck Dahn in self-defense, while others said Runyon instigated the attack.
Deputies arrested Runyon and took him to the county jail in Land O'Lakes. He had a $50,000 bail but was released without having to post bail Tuesday.
NEW PORT RICHEY -- Authorities have accused a Spring Hill man of altering a valid prescription to get 100 more pills than his doctor prescribed.
Frank J. Polise, 50, of 12447 Hanley Drive, received a prescription for 100 carisprodol tablets, a muscle relaxant, from his doctor in Hudson. A sheriff's report said Polise then added 100 oxycodone tablets, a painkiller, to the prescription and then changed the name of the patient to Paul Dollsese. Polise tried to get the prescription filled at 4:56 p.m. Monday at the Winn-Dixie at 12120 Moon Lake Road in New Port Richey.
After deputies watched Polise pay for the drugs, they arrested him and took him to the Land O'Lakes jail. Polise told deputies he was in extreme pain from prior injuries and wanted the pills for personal use.
He was released Tuesday on $50,250 bail.
BAYONET POINT -- A Lutz man was arrested on drunken driving charges Monday after a two-car accident on State Road 52 east of Meadow Drive near Bayonet Point.
A tan Toyota was damaged in the rear when the driver of a white Ford failed to stop behind it. Witnesses said the Ford driver, Wesley L. Smith, 40, of 1004 Sunset Lane, ran into nearby woods after the crash but then returned to his vehicle and tried to throw a bottle of rum under it, a report said.
Smith refused a blood-alcohol content test, but sheriff's deputies arrested him at 4:08 p.m. on suspicion of driving under the influence.
He also faces charges of causing property damage while driving under the influence. He was released on $1,000 bail Tuesday.
