Music, food and a fireworks show will all be part of the Independence Day celebration at RockCrusher Canyon.

The party begins at 4 p.m. with a cook-out buffet at the Garden Pavilion. The menu for the event features sliced roast beef, barbecue ribs, citrus-marinated chicken, beans, rolls, assorted salads and desserts. The buffet is served in the pavilion from 4 to 7 p.m.

The Dixieland house band Razz Ma Tazz will perform at the pavilion from 6 to 9 p.m. Bandleader Johnny Baier said the group will perform a special "All-American Show" featuring patriotic music and other songs.

Shortly after 9 p.m., a fireworks show takes place at the Rock Crusher Canyon Amphitheater.

"It will be an exciting and high-energy show," said Sheree Monroe, spokeswoman for the Canyon."We'll be firing off great special effects called "mine walls' which aren't used in other local fireworks. And the fireworks will be closer."

Mine walls are fireworks that "paint;' a banner-type picture in the sky, she said. Monroe said the Rock Crusher fireworks show would last about 20 minutes.

Tickets for the buffet and fireworks are $25 for adults, and $12.50 for children 6-12. Weekend camping packages are also available in the 400-site RV park. Call 795-1313.

During the day, activities at Dunnellon High Tiger Stadium include a bass casting contest at 5 p.m., karaoke contest at 6 p.m., a watermelon eating contest at 8 p.m., followed by the fireworks. Call (352) 489-2731.
