MANCHA FINALE: Man of La Mancha has its final performances this weekend at Playhouse 19, 865 U.S. 19 S, Crystal River. Show times are 8 p.m. today and Saturday; 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $12. Call the box office at 563-1333.

SWING TIME: The Rhythm Tones entertain from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. today at the Beverly Hills Recreation Association Clubhouse, 77 Civic Circle. The band plays music from the Big Band era. Dessert and coffee will be served. Tickets are $4. Call 746-4882.

SCIENCE FICTION: Author Piers Anthony will join other authors for a presentation July 14 on the effects of science fiction and fantasy literature in everyday life. Anthony, a popular science fantasy author and a resident of east Citrus, will be joined by Rick Wilber, science fiction author and mass communications faculty member at the University of South Florida; and Dan Scanlan, staff reporter at the Florida Times-Union and reader and reviewer of science fiction books. Anthony is known for the Xanth, Adept and other serials. The program will be from 2 to 5 p.m. July 14 at the Citrus County Auditorium on U.S. 41 S, Inverness. Each speaker will present a view of futuristic predictions by science fiction and fantasy writers, including their effect on our lives. Admission is free.

CHILDREN'S ANNIE: The story of Little Orphan Annie, condensed for children and renamed Annie Jr., will be presented at 7:30 p.m. July 12 and 13; 2:15 and 7:30 p.m. July 14 and 2:15 p.m. July 15 at Ocala Civic Theater, 4337 E Silver Springs Blvd. The play retains the memorable songs such as Tomorrow, Hard Knock Life and You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile. Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for full-time students. Call (352) 236-2274.

SAY UNCLE: The Inverness Olde Town Association will have the Uncle Sam Jam street party on July 7. The Uncle Sam Jam will feature a decorated bicycle parade and other children's activities such as two Moon Walk booths, carriage rides, patriotic face and nail painting, games, food vendors, a patriotic tribute led by Mayor Joyce Rogers and a street dance to finish the night.

FASHION SHOW: A fashion show and fundraiser for Playhouse 19 will begin at 11:30 a.m. July 14 at the theater, 865 U.S. 19 S, Crystal River. The show includes fashions modeled by local celebrities, a buffet lunch and skits. Funds go to the remodeling at the two recently purchased buildings. Tickets are $35.
