Younger kids kick off all-star tournaments

The all-star tournaments have begun for 9-10 baseball in District 12 and 9-10 baseball and 9-10 softball in District 5.

The District 12 9-10 softball tournament begins tonight.

In District 12 9-10 baseball Tuesday, Oldsmar defeated Safety Harbor American 9-8. Max Virgilio's sacrifice fly in the sixth inning brought home David Hale with the winning run as Oldsmar came back from an 8-5 deficit in the sixth inning. The District 5 9-10 baseball final will have Seminole #1 playing Northeast at 7 tonight at Pinellas Park American. If Northeast wins, a second final will be played at 7 p.m. Saturday. In District 5 9-10 softball, Cross Bayou will meet the winner of tonight's game between Seminole and Gulfport in the final. Cross Bayou will have two chances to win the title.

RBI BASEBALL: The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Suncoast will host the Tropicana Field Showcase Tournament tonight with two games at the Naimoli Sports Complex.

Saturday, two more games will be played at Tropicana Field. Parking and admission is free, and the gates open at 8 a.m.

The winning team advances to the RBI World Series at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista on Aug. 6-12.
