Kayne Dakoski of the West Florida Y Runners Club finished first in the 18-year-old division of the decathlon with 6,110 points and second in the javelin with a throw of 149 feet, 11/2 inches at the recent state championship meet in Sebastian.

Heather Baily won the pole vault at 6-6. Javona Mctier, 7, grabbed seconds in the 200 and 400 meters and third in the 100 in her age division.

Those finishing in the top four advanced to the National Junior Olympics.

Other age-group qualifiers from the West Florida Club, which trains at Clearwater High, were: Alton Taylor, second in the 400, fourth in the 100; Tresand Blackmon, fourth in the 400; Diymond Johnson, third in the 400; Aaron Pasco, fourth in the 400; Phyllis Pasco, third in the 400 and Stacy Brown, third in the 3,000, fourth in the 1,500 and fourth in the javelin.
