HUDSON -- Confronted by a Pasco County sheriff's deputy early Sunday morning, a Hudson man pulled out a dark object, pointed it at the deputy and said, "I'll shoot you," according to his arrest report.

The deputy, Marc Petruccelli, pulled out his weapon and demanded that Billy Wayne Hayes, 43, of 11517 State Road 52 drop his. Petruccelli found cover, told Hayes again to drop the object, and a backup officer arrived.

The object turned out to be a plastic spoon. Hayes was sprayed with pepper foam and arrested at 12:17 a.m.

Deputies were called to the mobile home when a woman said Hayes was breaking in. Hayes said he lived there.

The woman told deputies that Hayes smashed a window with a chair, pried the door open and pulled out a knife. The woman said Hayes was then scared off by a witness.

Hayes told deputies that he pulled out the knife to "feed the dogs."

Hayes was charged with armed trespass, three counts of aggravated assault, resisting an officer with violence and resisting without violence. He was being held Sunday evening in lieu of $25,500 bail at the Land O'Lakes jail.
