Marine Pvt. Jamie L. Macona, son of Cathleen and Erwin Steele of St. Petersburg, has completed basic training at Parris Island, S.C.

A 1997 graduate of St. Petersburg High School, Macona is in special artillery training at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Airman Kail Kaiser, son of Cathy and Ron Kaiser of Gulfport, completed U.S. Air Force basic training and technical school at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is stationed at Vandenberg Air Force Base, Lompoc, Calif., as a security police officer.

A 2000 Boca Ciega High School graduate, Kaiser joined the Air Force in November 2000.

Army Spec. Ernest Williams III, son of Cindy and Ernest Williams of St. Petersburg, was one of 20 Army military police officers who joined with local police in Pearl City, Hawaii, to raise money for the 2001 Troy Barboza Torch Run at the Hawaii Special Olympics.

Williams was part of a three-man team that went to Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., in February to compete against other military police companies from throughout the Army in all-around competition.

He is a member of the 58th MP Company stationed at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.
