Running

Saturday's Citrus Summer Showdown at Whispering Pines Park in Inverness will feature most of the top local runners, as well as competitors from as far away as Miami. The race starts at 9 a.m. It's free and open to all.

Registration will be at the Whispering Pines Park Pavilion from 8-8:45 a.m. There are a limited number of t-shirts available for participants. To pre-register, contact Colon Joiner, president of the Citrus Road Runners, (352) 527-2445.

Baseball/Softball

The clinic, scheduled for July 23-25 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Crystal River High School Baseball Complex, will provide boys and girls with professional instruction. Each participant will be drafted onto a team to compete in the tournament that corresponds with the camp

For information, contact Hall, Crystal River's baseball coach, (352) 527-3561. The cost is $55 and includes a camp t-shirt and daily awards. Campers may register at 8:45 a.m. on July 23 but are urged to register in advance.
