Sarasota's own

Aida, a sculpture in fiberglass and oils by Sarasota artist Olympia Zacchini, fuses the naturalistic (legs) with the stylized (head). The work, on view at Selby Gallery, Ringling School of Art and Design, is one of a selection by more than 40 artists, all lured to live in Sarasota in the mid-20th century by the Ringling Museum, the Ringling School of Art and Design, and the presence of many artists of national reputation who had made it their home. The show, "Multiple Visions: Part II," curated by Pat Ringling Buck, is on view through July 20 at Selby Gallery, Ringling School of Art and Design. Others exhibiting include Craig Rubadoux, Jean Chase, Shirley Clement, Mary Sarg Murphy, LeRoy Nichols, Thornton Utz, Frank Colson and Robert Hodgell. Hours are noon to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The gallery is at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way, one-half block east of 2700 N Tamiami Trail, Sarasota; (941) 359-7563. Free.
