Goodwill opens superstore

Good news for bargain hunters: Goodwill Industries-Suncoast opened its first regional superstore on Monday at 2830 SW 27th Ave., Ocala, next to Paddock Mall. It is stocked with 75,000 pieces of "gently used" men's, women's and children's clothing, plus furniture, housewares, small appliances, televisions, toys and books. Goodwill plans to open two more superstores, in Brandon and Lakeland, by spring. The organization hopes that positioning its larger standalone stores in busy retail areas will mean increased sales of items whose proceeds are used to help people with disabilities and other barriers to employment work toward self-sufficiency. In 1999 and 2000, Goodwill-Suncoast ranked first among 181 U.S. and Canadian Goodwills for the number of clients placed in jobs.
