Buckcherry lands at Jannus

Buckcherry lands at Jannus

Legend has it the guys in Buckcherry met through their tattoo artist -- and it shows! The L.A. hard rockers have a guitarist named Yogi, which would be kind of cute if the band didn't sing about how much it loves cocaine. Then there's that new song where lead singer Josh Todd boasts that he is a -- oh, dear, how to put this delicately? -- a well-endowed porno star. Goodness gracious! What would little Boo Boo say?

Buckcherry plays with Canadian rockers Econoline Crush. That band has a guitarist named Ziggy.

Okay, guys, what's up with the cartoon character names?

Buckcherry and Econoline Crush perform at 7 p.m. Friday at Jannus Landing, Second Street between Central Avenue and First Avenue N, St. Petersburg. $15 advance, $18 day of show. (727) 898-2100.

Get your Fixx

Are they, are they, are they themselves? Yep, it's the original lineup of the Fixx, those 1980s MTV Brit boys. Forget the tunes? Whip out the old vinyl of Reach the Beach with Saved by Zero and One Thing Leads to Another. You could do worse.

Openers Barely Pink are one of Tampa's finest. The band recently released a darn good greatest hits disc.

The Fixx and Barely Pink perform at 7 p.m. Saturday at Jannus Landing, Second Street between Central Avenue and First Avenue N, St. Petersburg. $16 advance, $18 day of show. (727) 898-2100.
