CRYSTAL RIVER -- Wally Kuchar sank a 15-foot birdie putt on the second extra hole Friday as he and Rick Sargent won the fifth annual North Florida PGA Senior-Junior Championship at the Plantation Inn and Golf Resort.
Kuchar and Sargent finished 36 holes tied at 20-under par with Jim Deaton and David Scott after shooting rounds of 58-66.
Deaton and Scott, four shots back entering the final round after an opening-round 62, shot 62 again. Al Kelley of Eustis and Chris Moore of Ormond Beach, the defending champions, were third at 18-under.
The tournament used a scramble format Thursday and a best-ball format Friday.
Among the four Orlando-area head professionals, Sargent and Scott made birdie on the par-4 first playoff hole. After Scott and Deaton missed birdie putts at the par-4 second playoff hole, Kuchar made his for the win.
In regulation, Sargent, of Kissimmee, made five birdies and Kuchar, of Windermere, added one.
Kuchar and Sargent each earned $850 from the $7,800 purse.
