Survey will help city figure out 'mission theme'
By ANDREW MEACHAM
© St. Petersburg Times, ST. PETERSBURG -- In city-sponsored workshops culminating in early June, residents swapped ideas about the city's future. Now, organizers are distilling that input into several manageable themes. A survey circulated at a follow-up meeting to eight weeks of "20/20 Vision" workshops is due back Tuesday. Bob Jeffrey, an urban design manager for the city, will evaluate the results. "It's a way of saying, 'Did we hear you correctly?' " he said. " 'Did we manage the information properly?' It's sort of a check and balance." For those who missed the June 27 follow-up, there will be another meeting July 19 at the Sunshine Center, 330 Fifth St. N, at 7 p.m. Jeffrey's department at Development Services will use the information to compile a "mission theme for the city." That report will not emerge before September. Monday is clean-up day throughout July for the more than 3,200 homes in Greater Pinellas Point. Residents can dispose of odd-sized trash such as furniture, bedding or tree limbs up to 4 feet in normal garbage pickup spots. Do not leave paint or solvents. Greater Pinellas Point runs from 54th Avenue S to Tampa Bay and from 34th Street S to the bay. Sanitation workers will make pick-ups for the following areas: July 9: Between Dr. M.L. King (Ninth) Street S and Fourth Street, extending into and including Bahama Shores. July 16: Between M.L. King Street S and 16th Street S. July 23: Between 16th Street S and 22nd Street S.
