NIGHT HIKE: Bring your flashlight and be amazed by how many creatures are watching you in Boyd Hill Nature Park, 1101 Country Club Way S, St. Petersburg. TUESDAY

SIT AND BE FIT: Staying fit while you sit is easier than you think. Dr. Bond Thomas presents a program on how to prevent stress-related injuries. SUNRISE SALE: The Museum of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg holds a sale of items from the museum gift shop from 6:45 to 10:30 a.m. in the Marly Room. Cards, jewelry, books and toys all at a substantial savings. After 10:30 a.m., jewelry will be moved back to the gift shop but will remain on sale till 4:30 p.m. Refreshments provided. GALLERY TALK: Dr. Jennifer Hardin, Curator of Collections and Exhibitions, speaks on a collection of Currier and Ives prints at 4 p.m. in the Museum of Fine Arts, 255 Beach Drive NE, St. Petersburg. Currier and Ives is considered the most significant nineteenth-century print publisher in the United States (1835-1907) and has been credited with making art reproductions available to the public and increasing an understanding of high art. BEACH BLOWOUT: Teens grades 6 through 12 are invited to a Summer Extreme beach event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Treasure Island Municipal Beach, 11260 Gulf Blvd., Treasure Island. NORMAN ROCKWELL'S 'FAMILY LIFE': A collection of 78 prints by Norman Rockwell originally commissioned by the Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co. as an advertising campaign is on display until Nov. 9 at the Florida International Museum, 100 Second St. N, St. Petersburg. The "Family Life" Series depicts various aspects of American Life with an emphasis on the family during the 1950s and 1960s. Exhibits in the museum are priced individually or all together. 'VISITING MR. GREEN': A poignant tale of an intergenerational friendship that occurs between two men who are separated not only by years but by prejudice that has led them both to isolate themselves from society is presented at the American Stage, 211 Third St. S, St. Petersburg. Playwright, Jeff Baron, combines comedy and pathos to inspire the audiance to step beyond self-imposed boundaries of prejudice. SATURDAY

GOSPEL FEST: The 2001 Summer Gospel Fest featuring the Christianaires of Jackson, Miss., along with local talent, is held at 6 p.m. in the Palladium Theater in St. Petersburg. $19. Call 822-3590.

SKILLS CHALLENGE: The Tampa Bay Devil Rays hold the Florida Power Devil Rays Skills Challenge for kids ages 7-14 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Pinellas Park Boys and Girls Club, 7790 61st St. N, Pinellas Park. The Skills Challenge emphasizes how fun it is to play baseball and offers kids a chance to compete and receive gifts and prizes. Free. Call 825-3232.

UNDERWATER ARCHAEOLOGY: Use shovels, brushes, sifting boxes and other tools of the trade to unearth fossils left behind by ancient marine animals and dig up clay pots, arrowheads and other artifacts of Florida's native Americans, 10 a.m. to noon at The Pier Aquarium, the Spa Beach in St. Petersburg and the Education Station on the approach to The Pier.
