© St. Petersburg Times, Passenger dies in Ruskin car accident; driver fleesRUSKIN -- A 26-year-old man died Friday night when the car he was in flipped and struck a telephone pole. Saul Saldivar of 412 Fifth Ave. SE in Ruskin died at the scene, sheriff's spokesman Harold Winsett said. The car's driver, whose identity was not known, fled. Deputies continued to search for the person Saturday. Winsett said the two were traveling south on U.S. 41 when the car crossed the median at 14th Avenue SE in Ruskin. It spun into a ditch on the east side of the highway, struck a telephone pole and turned onto its right side. Saldivar was ejected, Winsett said. The car continued on, sliding out of the ditch into the parking lot of a used-car business, where it hit a parked car. When the car stopped, the driver ran, Winsett said.
