Teen shot to death near home
By Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published July 9, 2000 TAMPA -- An 18-year-old Tampa resident was killed Friday when gunshots were fired during a confrontation on the street. Charles Lee, of 8402 N 15th St., was found dead near his home in the 8500 block of 15th Street at 10:30 p.m. Police said witnesses saw Lee walking on 15th Street when a small, dark-colored vehicle approached. Some type of confrontation ensued and witnesses said they heard gunshots. Lee fell to the pavement and the vehicle left the scene. "We are looking at it as a homicide," Tampa police spokesman Joe Durkin said. "Right now there are no suspects in custody." © St. Petersburg Times. All rights reserved. |
