© St. Petersburg Times, Special program marks "Operation Overlord"BROOKSVILLE -- The "Jubile of Liberte Diplome" ceremonies will begin at 1 p.m. today in the Hernando County Commission chambers of the Government Center, 20 N Main St. The program is in recognition of "Operation Overlord," more commonly known as "D-Day." Speakers will include a representative from Rep. Karen Thurman's office and Deron Mikal, representing the consul general of France. Ken Wrinkle, director of the Hernando County Office of Veterans Services, along with County Commissioner Chris Kingsley, will present the Jubile of Liberte Diplome. Information available on subsidized home loansBROOKSVILLE -- A representative from the USDA Rural Development will be available from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today in the Hernando County Housing Authority office, in the Hernando County Government Center, 20 N Main St., Room 205. The representative will provide information on subsidized loans for home construction, purchase or repair. These programs are available to low and "very low" income applicants who qualify. No appointments are necessary. Realtors, lenders and builders are also welcome. Free program details integrated health servicesSPRING HILL -- "Health, Wellness and Natural Choices -- There is an Alternative," a program regarding the use of integrated services in health care, will be offered from 2:30 to 4:45 p.m. July 14 in the West Hernando/Foggia Branch Library, 6335 Blackbird Ave. The program will be presented by Carol S. New Sierra Club holds organizational meetingBROOKSVILLE -- The newly formed Naturecoast Sierra Club will conduct its first organizational meeting at 2 p.m. July 15 in the Chinsegut Hill Conference Center on Chinsegut Hill Road (off Snow Memorial Highway). The group's goal is to help protect the environment and its resources. The Naturecoast Sierra Club will represent four counties: Hernando, Sumter, Citrus and Pasco. The "Cool Cooking" program will be at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday in the East Hernando Branch Library, 31170 Cortez Blvd. (Sunrise Plaza), east of Brooksville. Marty the Magician will present his illusions at 10:15 a.m. Thursday in the Lykes Memorial Library, 238 Howell Ave., Brooksville. The free programs are for children ages 5-12.
