The works of several local painters are on display all month at branches of the county library system.

The Lakes Region Library, 1511 Druid Road, Inverness, features the works of Larry Lackey. A lifelong painter, Lackey is a self-taught artist who works in acrylics, pen and oils, watercolors and permanent markers. Most of the works in the exhibit were inspired by a recent trip to Ireland.

Photographer Shelly Schantz also has work on display at the Lakes Region Library. Schantz's collection of family photographs reflects her goal of leaving a priceless family heirloom for her children.

Colored-pencil artist Ruth Elaine Holm's work will be displayed at Coastal Region Library, 8619 W Crystal St., Crystal River. Holm's works includes advertising, portraits, landscapings and outdoors signs.

The paintings of wildlife artist Mary Lou Halovich will befeatured at the Floral City Public Library, 8360 Orange Ave. Her paintings rely on the wet-on-wet technique adopted by Bob Ross and many other painters. Halovich said she learned the technique in the 1950s in Pennsylvania.

She is a member of the Citrus County Art League and the Beverly Hills Art Group. Her paintings have won ribbons at the Beverly Hills Art Group shows and the Citrus County Fair.
