There were still chuckles in the Rays clubhouse Friday about the fallout from bench coach Billy Hatcher's role in Thursday's confusion about Fred McGriff's status. Hatcher took down the original lineup card that had McGriff on it Thursday and and replaced it with one that didn't include McGriff as a starter or a reserve, intending to pull a prank on the other Rays but instead sparking news bulletins that McGriff likely was headed to Chicago. "I don't think he's going to try and play any more games with the players," manager Hal McRae said with a broad smile. "That was not intended for the press."
