Children's book author Barbara Murray Klopp will be at Barnes & Noble, 23654 U.S. 19 N, Clearwater today at 4 p.m. Her book Alex and Zig is the story of a little boy with green sneakers and his guardian angel, Zig.

The background players take center stage as the Playhouse 19 Summer Theatre Project for teens presents the musical A Chorus Line today at 2 p.m. at the theater, 865 N Suncoast Blvd. (U.S. 19), Crystal River. Tickets are $12. Call (352) 563-1333 for reservations.

More than 150 custom cars of all makes and models will line The Pier's approach and the courtyard for the State Championship Car Show from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at The Pier, 800 Second Ave. NE, St. Petersburg.
