102 and countingBy Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published July 17, 2000 They've lived in the 1800s, 1900s and 2000s. Between them, Matilda Gardiner and Gladys Harvie have been alive for more than 200 years. Gardiner, known as "Tillie," turns 102 years old Tuesday. Harvie reached her 102nd milestone on July 9. Both women are residents of Mariner Health of Inverness, a nursing home. Both were born in 1898. The past week was one of celebrations. Harvie's family threw a party for her, and the Mariner staff had a party for Gardiner, complete with a country singer and cake. © St. Petersburg Times. All rights reserved. |
