Jury seated in sheriff's T-shirt trial

LARGO -- Attorneys spent most of Monday selecting jurors in the case of the woman charged with wearing a Pinellas County sheriff's T-shirt.

The trial of Kimberly Sult is expected to continue today after lawyers finished picking a jury late Monday.

Sult, 24, a former civilian employee of the Pinellas Sheriff's Office, is accused of displaying items that might fool a reasonable person into thinking she worked for a law enforcement agency.

In Sult's case, two deputies say she wore the T-shirt emblazoned with the Sheriff's Office logo to a St. Petersburg gas station in June. The deputies say that when they confronted her and asked whether she worked for the sheriff, Sult then displayed an old employee identification and lied to officers that she still worked there.

Sult's attorney is John Trevena, the same lawyer hired by the man who faced the same charge for wearing an LAPD baseball cap. Prosecutors dropped that case.
