Biologists from the Florida Game and Fresh Water Fish Commission today offer a free Chinsegut Natural History Demonstration from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Chinsegut Nature Center at Florida Game and Fresh Water Fish Commission, 23212 Lake Lindsay Road (County Road 476), north of Brooksville. Today's topic, Finding Wildlife with Radio Telemetry, sounds like something out of Star Trek. History buffs are invited to get their hands dirty and join the Southeastern Archaeological Research Co. on an archaeological survey of the historic Safford House, 23 Parkin Court, Tarpon Springs, from 8 a.m. to noon and 12:30 to 4 p.m. today through Saturday. The Safford House, home of Anson P.K. Safford, one of the original developers of Tarpon Springs, was built in 1883. Researchers hope to uncover bottles, old coins, metal buttons, buckles, shoes, household items and even trash (which was commonly buried in that period). Participants have to register in advance and be 12 or older. Anyone younger than 18 must be accompanied by an adult. For information or registration, call (727) 942-5605.
