Swimming

Lecanto High School coaches Paul Brundage and Tracy Adams are having a mandatory meeting for prospective swimmers and their parents July 31 in the Lecanto Middle School cafeteria.

Softball

Players 55 and older are needed for teams in a senior citizen coed league.

Games are played at Bicentennial Field No. 5 in Crystal River on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 1 p.m. Those interested can apply at the field on game days or by calling Tom Gwalthney, (352) 628-0663.

Baseball

Tryouts for Team Florida AAU Fall Baseball are scheduled 4-7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Central Ridge Baseball Complex. The tryouts are for the 9-and-under, 11-and-under, 12-and-under, 13-and-under and 14-and-under divisions.

Team Florida is an official AAU program. Coaches will be trained by Crystal River High School coach Brent Hall. A second tryout is set for Aug. 4-5 at 4 p.m. for players who miss this first one. Call Chuck Rabold, (352) 465-5049.

Football

Sign-up forms can be obtained at ERA Suncoast Realty (ask for Harry or Karen), 1206 S.E. U.S. 19, and from Christine C. Eck, CPA, PA at 910 N. Suncoast Blvd

The league is divided into brackets for 5-8-year-olds and individuals 9-13. All boys and girls born between March 1, 1988, and Aug. 1, 1996, are eligible. Those with completed forms will be placed on teams July 28. All others will be placed as space allows.

Each participant will need to submit proof of a physical, a copy of their birth certificate and registration fee by July 27. The fee covers uniforms, a team picture, trophy and league party. The cost is $35 for football players and $45 for cheerleaders. Additional children from the same family receive a $5 discount.

Parents who wish to volunteer to help with the teams can pick up forms at the same locations. For information, call 795-7801.
