Tip for better golfBy JASON NELSON © St. Petersburg Times, published July 20, 2000 Pre-shot fundamentals Full shots constitute less than 45 percent of the scoring for almost all levels of players. Yet whenever golfers gather, the full swing monopolizes the practice time, the effort and conversation. Because there is no one solution for finding a swing style that fits all, there is no universal agreement on which style is best. So people keep searching and experimenting their swings based upon scores in their golf rounds. What a lot of golfers do not know is that an effective and consistent pre-shot routine will enable them to be more relaxed and confident when it is time to hit the ball. So next time you are on the range, practice working on a routine that will help you feel confident before making a stroke. -- Jason Nelson, head professional at The Dunes Golf Club This is another in a series of weekly golf tips from club professionals in Citrus and Hernando counties. They will offer advice on everything from the mental game to equipment to nuts-and-bolts mechanics. © St. Petersburg Times. All rights reserved. |
