THE PAST WEEK: The Rangers, 4-3 since the All-Star break, began what was supposed to be a six-game road trip with a doubleheader against Baltimore on Wednesday. Texas won the first game 6-4. But the final two games of the series were postponed because of a train derailment near Camden Yards.

SCOUTING REPORT: Texas has plenty of power on offense with A-Rod, Ivan Rodriguez and Rafael Palmeiro. It ranks in the top five in the AL in runs (516), hits (897), total bases (1,553), doubles (196) and home runs (144). Pitching is a different story. It ranks last in five categories, including ERA (5.72).

ALL-TIME SERIES: The Rangers took two of three at the Trop in May and lead 24-13. At the Trop, Texas is 13-6. Rays pitchers have a 5.69 ERA all-time and catcher Ivan Rodriguez has a .421 batting average.

TEXAS TIES: Rays pitcher Tanyon Sturtze was with the Rangers organization in 1997 and 1998, spending most of the time in the minors. He was 1-1 with a 8.27 ERA in 1997. Wilson Alvarez was signed by the Rangers in 1986 and played three seasons in the minors before being traded to the White Sox with Sammy Sosa for Harold Baines in 1989.

WHO'S HOT: Ivan Rodriguez is hitting .392 in his past 12 games to raise his average from .272 to .304.

WHO'S NOT: Outfielder Ricky Ledee is 7-for-43 (.163) with two doubles and 15 strikeouts this month.
