Six local athletes placed at the U.S. Open World of Martial Arts Karate Championships on July 6-7 in Orlando.
In the black belt 17-under category, Charmelene Navales, 12, placed first in self-defense and point fighting, and Jennilee Navales, 11, was second in self-defense.
In the black belt 17-under category, Robyn Bartolo, 16, was third in self-defense and Alicia Panko, 10, was second in self-defense and third in traditional weapons form.
In the black belt 35-over category, Havelka Jaroslav was third in open form.
In the black belt 42-over category, Anne Marie Fraser was first in point fighting.
