ZEPHYRHILLS -- A woman accused of leaving her children home alone for hours while she went out drinking was arrested Wednesday and charged with child neglect, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies reported Patricia Ann Baur, 40, of 39221 Sabal Ave., left her two children -- ages 8 and 10 -- by themselves without food for about 20 hours on July 11. An investigating deputy placed the children with relatives.
Official reports do not identify the children or state if they are boys or girls.
Investigators discussed the case with Baur on Thursday, and she admitted she had left the children unattended so she could drink beer, reports said.
"She said she knew what shedid was wrong, but she has a bad drinking problem," the report states.
Baur remained in the Pasco County jail in Land O'Lakes Thursday afternoon with bail set at $15,000.
